Food Security Area
  • Regional Program to Strengthen the Impacts of Public Policies on Eradicating Hunger and Chronic Child Malnutrition

    Country/countries where it is carried out: Latin America and the Caribbean, with specific components in Paraguay, Ecuador and Peru.
    Description: The Project has as goal collaborating with the countries in the region to strengthen their capacities in public policy management directed at people with a high level of poverty, in the sphere of eradicating hunger and chronic child malnutrition, applying a participative territorial approach.

  • Special Program for Food Security for Central America (PESA)

    Country/countries where it is carried out: El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Guatemala.
    Description: The Central America PESA and its Regional Coordination Component want to support Food Security and Nutrition (FSN) in each of the countries. The general goal of the FSN Strategy to which it wants to have given support by 2015 in Central America is: “To contribute to the progress in Central American countries in fulfilling the goal of two of the MDGs: to reduce by half, between 1990 and 2015, the percentage of people that suffer from hunger”.

  • Emergencies Support: Humanitarian Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Brazil

    : GCP/RLA/160/BRA.
    Country/countries where it is carried out: Guatemala, Chile, Haiti, Congo, Mozambique, Guinea Bissau and Angola.
    Description: The goal of this initiative is to support countries in Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa in their response to humanitarian crises and situations of food insecurity, by means of actions in emergency situations and by agricultural recovery and strengthening. Projects supporting the Hunger Free Latin America and the Caribbean Initiative (2025).

  • Activation of the Services and Consolidation of the American Aquaculture Network (AAN).

    Description: This project wants to contribute to developing sustainable and inclusive aquaculture in America. Intergovernmental Cooperation in the matter. To guarantee food security and to fight against poverty in the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.

  • Implementation of Urban and Peri-urban Agriculture in the Municipal City Sandino and the Los Laureles neighborhood in the VI District of Managua

    Country/countries where it is carried out: Nicaragua.
    Description: The goal of the project is to increase the availability of good quality water for the horticulture production in urban and peri-urban zones from the Department of Managua and, so, improve food security and nutrition of selected families and generate income through the sales of surpluses that will help them overcome poverty.

  • Support to Rehabilitating the Productive Livestock and Fishing Sector Affected by the Cyclones of 2008 – Provinces of Camaguey, Holguín, Las Tunas and Pinar del Río

    Country/countries where it is carried out: Cuba.
    Description: The goal of this project is to contribute to food sovereignty by recuperating and improving the capacity of animal based food production. The food production capacity and productive chains in the livestock and fishing sectors of the provinces Camaguey, Holguín, Las Tunas and Pinar del Río affected by the cyclones of 2008; they will be recuperated and strengthened.

  • Support to Food Security, Management of Natural Resources and Sustainable Local Development of the town of Marigot.

    Country/countries where it is carried out: Haiti.
    Description: This project, which is carried out in Haiti, has as goal improving food security in the town of Marigot, by increasing the production and diversification of the productive systems, ensuring the sustainable management of natural resources by the farmers and involved local authorities.

  • Strengthening of School Meal Programs

    Description: The goal of the project is to strengthen the process of institutionalization of school meal programs and related food security policies, through mechanisms at the regional and national level.

  • Strengthening the Civil Society in Family Agriculture and Access to Renewable Natural Resources Topics

    Description: Regional follow-up project from the International Conference on Agricultural Reform and Rural Development (ICARRD) in other countries; elaboration of studies; training and support in the formulation of public policies.

  • Strengthening of the Production Policies of Basic Grain Seeds to Support the Farming Agriculture for Food Security in the Member Countries of CAC

    Description: The projects wants to contribute to strengthening the sustainable national systems that ensure the availability and sustainable access to good quality seeds of basic grains for small producers for food security and nutrition in seven countries of Central America: Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and Belize, plus a sub-regional component.

  • Support Program for Family Agricultural Farming in Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador to Improve Availability, Access and use of Quality Seeds in the High Andean Areas

  • Implementation of Good Practices to Integrally Strengthen Family Agriculture in the Northern Provinces and North Argentina for Sustainable Rural Development

    Description: The goal of this project is to contribute to food security by means of generating income in the north Argentinean sectors, giving priority to the most vulnerable groups. Together with this, the application of good agricultural and manufacturing practices will be promoted to obtain safe and quality food; and the improvement of work conditions of the farmers and rural workers, and making access to food and the commercial insertion of their products easier.

  • Restoration of the Assets of Poor Vulnerable Families Affected by the Storm Stan in the areas of Lake Atitlán and River Naranjo

  • Modernization of Small Scale Irrigation in the Province of Carchi

    Description: This project wants to contribute to improving the availability of water and optimizing small scale communal irrigation systems by using integrated hydrographic basins management approaches, participation and gender in order to guarantee the production of healthy food for the food supply for families that belong to the parishes of Los Andes, Monte Olivo and San Rafael in the province of Carchi.

  • Support to the Productive Rehabilitation and Sustainable Management of Micro-basins in the Municipalities of Ahuachapán after the Storm Stan

  • National Project to Support the Productive Rehabilitation of the Agricultural and Fishing Sectors in the Provinces Affected by the Earthquake of August 15, 2007

    Description: The goal of this project is to improve the agricultural and fishing conditions of poor families affected by the earthquake of August 15, 2007, by means of improving their productive systems, supporting the sustainable development of hydrographic micro-basins and strengthening local and community organizations.

Transboundary Diseases Area
  • Strengthening the Policies and Strategies to Prevent, Control and Eradicate Food-and-Mouth Disease in Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela

    Country/countries where it is carried out: Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela.
    Descripción: This project wants to contribute to controlling and eradicating foot-and-mouth disease in the countries of the Andean Community of Nations (CAN) and Venezuela, reducing the impact on food security of the most vulnerable families and on the commerce of animal based products. To obtain the results of the project about 4 technical closely interwoven components (products) have been structured as well as a fifth managerial component.
